Surabaya, as a capital city of Jawa Timur Province, became one of the major points of National economic growth. In 2017, Gross Domestic Regional Product of this province reach Rp 2.019,2 billion, or equal to 17,43 % of national GDP. However, according to the data released by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) in 2017, Jawa Timur became the most corrupt province in Indonesia, with 68 cases of corruption which have cost the country up to Rp 90,2 billion
On this basis, Indonesia Business links (IBL), in collaboration with Corruption Eradication Commision (KPK), and Regional Advocation Committee for Anti-Corruption (KAD) Jawa Timur, organized Business Integrity Forum (BIF) 2018. With the theme of “Jawa Timur Berbenah” (East Java Clean-up), this forum aims to build dialogue among relevant stakeholders to strengthening together integrity and ethical business practices in East Java.
BIF, which was held on September 26, 2018 at Santika Premiere Surabaya, was attended by 67 people from the leaders of business associations in East Java. We also invited representatives of regulators and relevant stakeholders to attend this event. BIF resulted a communiqué, an agreement from the forum participants to jointly encourage a conducive business environment through strategic functions are run by the Regional Anti-Corruption Advocacy Committee of East Java Province.
